Our Programs
Bethany House provides a continuum of care that helps women, and women with children, experiencing homelessness, move from uncertainty to stability.
We believe that the essential resources of adequate food, clothing, shelter, and safety should be provided in nurturing surroundings within a stable, affirming environment.
In addition, we strive to help individuals and families attain self-sufficiency, and embark on a path of natural and sustained growth and development. We do this by offering integrated, comprehensive services to provide a healthy and safe foundation for the guests we support, in order to foster stability for subsequent generations.
Emergency Housing:
Bethany House runs three emergency shelters in Baldwin and Roosevelt. We provide a safe, warm, home-like environment for women, and women with children, experiencing homelessness in Nassau County. The guests in our homes are provided individualized, knowledgeable case management, along with other various trauma-informed services, such as mental health awareness training and women’s empowerment.
Someone in need of emergency housing should contact Nassau County Department of Social Services to inquire about being placed in one of these homes.
Transitional Housing:
With private funding, Bethany House has opened semi-independent housing outside of the social services system. This allows for a longer stay to achieve education and career goals, as well as for the ability to build savings. Program participants are offered individualized case management, access to therapeutic services, and connections to numerous quality resources. A qualified candidate will have steady employment, attainable goals and on the path to self-sufficiency. The program allows for guests to build critical skills which help create a bridge from instability to independence.
Someone interested in applying to our transitional housing program should contact Bethany House at info@bhny.org.
