Former Bethany’s House Board Member Honored at Fashion Show
On March 19, the Bethany House of Nassau County held its 22nd Annual Fashion Show, at which Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D—Freeport) honored former board member Kia Moore for her years of devotion and service to the women of Bethany House.
Bethany House is in charge of shelters in Roosevelt and Baldwin, where they prioritize the mission of providing a safe haven for healing and personal growth for women and mothers with children facing being unhoused. To help clients gain more stable lives, permanent housing, and self-sufficiency, staff and volunteers offer trauma-informed services, comprehensive health care, and devoted case management that concentrate on educational and employment growth prospects.
Mulé is currently hosting a Women’s History Month supply drive for Bethany House’s extraordinary work to help women and children experiencing homelessness. Now through March 31, donors are invited to give toilet paper, paper towels, 13-gallon garbage bags, cases of water bottles, rideshare gift cards, and grocery store gift cards during normal business hours at the following locations:
- Freeport Memorial Library, located at 144 West Merrick Road, Freeport
- Baldwin Public Library, located at 2385 Grand Avenue, Baldwin
- Roosevelt Public Library, located at 27 West Fulton Avenue, Roosevelt
“Kia Moore has worked so tirelessly to make Bethany House a beacon of hope for women throughout our region, and I cannot think of a more deserving honoree for this year’s fashion show than her,” Mulé said. “Her story is truly incredible and an inspiration to us all, and it filled my heart with joy to join the Bethany House family in celebrating her achievements.”
