Bethany House provides emergency shelter for women and women with children in Nassau County. Bethany House does not provide housing to men. Women who come to Bethany House must be referred through the Nassau County Department of Social Services.

  • If you are in a dangerous situation, call 911 for assistance.
  • If you need housing at night or on the weekend, call the Nassau County After Hours Emergency Number (516) 573-8626.
  • If you can wait until Monday for assistance, go to the Nassau County Department of Social Services located at 60 Charles Lindberg Blvd. in Uniondale. Their doors open at 8 am and close at 4 pm, Monday-Friday. The number for that department is (516) 227-7525, though it is advised to go in person.
  • If you are a man or woman currently residing on the street in Nassau or Suffolk County in New York, you can leave a message for the LICH Street Outreach Team at 631-464-4314 x 118. LICH is not able to provide real-time crisis response but will coordinate outreach efforts within 72 hours of any reported person living on the street.
